The Stewart Cemetery is located about five miles east and south of
Brighton in the N. E. –S.E. quarter Sec. 32, Township 7 Range 9
This cemetery is a small cemetery and they are all
colored people buried there. There is no fences around the
cemetery and what is left of the fence is down. There are only
three graves that can be located, but as George Bockstruck told us
there is no more room for burying purposes as the cemetery is filled,
he said there were about forty or forty five graves in all.
George Bockstruck owns the land on the south west
and north and a public road on the east.
There is one veteran buried in the cemetery.
He has a government marker, the only grave marker in the cemetery.
This cemetery has quite a few evergreen trees
planted, and the grass is plenty high. There is no driveway to
this cem. The drain is good, and the cemetery started about 1895,
as we were told. No more information could be found on the
cemetery.

Ruth P. Graul, his wife, both of the city of Alton, Madison County,
Illinois; Wesley J. Graul individually and as trustee under the last
will and testament of Jacob Graul, deceased and Myrthe both of Brighton
Township, Macoupin County, Ill; Elizabeth C. Graul, widow of Jacob
Graul, deceased, of FosterburgTownship, Madison County, Ill; William
Graul and Edna Graul, his wife both of Alton, Madison County, Ill;
Mamie Graul Krieg and Harry Krieg, her husband, both of Fosterburg
Township, Madison County, Ill; Nellie Graul Kreig and Alvin Krieg, her
husband, both of Fosterburg Township, Madison County, Ill; and Ida
Graul Heppner and Clausy Heppner, her husband, both of the city of
Alton, Madison County, Ill; being all of the Heirs at-law of Jacob
Graul, deceased, for and in consideration of the sum of Fifty Five
Hundred and no/100 Dollars ($5,500) in hand paid, convey and warrant to
George D. Bockstruck and Esther Bockstruck, his wife, as joint tenants,
with full rights of survivorship and not as tenants in common, of
Fosterburg township, Madison County, Ill; the following described real
estate to witt: The South East quarter (SE1/4) of the Southeast quarter
(SE1/4) of Section number Thirty-two (32), in Township Number Seven
(7), North, Range number nine (9) West of the Third Principal meridian,
containing Forty (40) acres more or less; situated in the County of
Macoupin in the State of Illinois, also ---rest of page missing.
