BARENKLAU, Mary – born 05/31/1912, Mount Olive, IL; died 05/31/1999, aged 87

Mrs. Mary S. Barenklau of Plant City died Monday (May 31, 1999). She was 87. Born in Mount Olive, Ill., on May 31, 1912, she came to Plant City 48 years ago. She was a homemaker. She was a Lutheran. She is survived by her sons, Eugene Barenklau, Allen Barenklau, both of Plant City; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 this evening at Wells Memorial Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Eileen Duke, nee Legath, 78 , of Collinsville, Ill., born April 25, 1925, in Staunton, Ill., died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003, at her residence. Mrs. Duke was preceded in death by her parents, Dutch and Carrie, nee Bertagnolli, Legath; and a brother-in-law, Robert Legath. Surviving are two daughters, Karen Duke of Collinsville, Ill., and Sharon Duke of Collinsville, Ill.; a son Dennis (Tory) Duke of Arnold, Mo.; a sister, Lora (Charles) Abernathy of Mitchell, Ill.; a sister-in-law Lois Legath of Hazelwood, Mo.; a nephew, Michael Abernathy of Mitchell, Ill.; a niece, Debbie Legath of Hazelwood, Mo.; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many friends. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003, at Herr Funeral Home Collinsville, Ill. Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003, at Herr Funeral Home Collinsville, Ill., with the Rev. Roger Wright officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery Staunton Ill.

Arline A. Greenan, 89 , of Peoria passed away at 12:20 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2006, at her residence. Born July 20, 1916, in Mount Olive, Ill., to Paul and Amanda DeBuhr Haffter, she married Ray Greenan on Nov. 15, 1947, in Peoria. He passed away May 7, 1992, in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by one brother. Surviving are two sons, Patrick (Lisa) Greenan and Paul (Jennie) Greenan, both of Peoria; four grandchildren; and two step-grandsons. She did secretarial work for the U.S. government, Navy, State and Agriculture departments. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, its Mary and Martha Society, its Quilting Group, Catholic Women's League and the YWCA. She was a former member of Timber Lake Country Club and Peoria Women's 9-Hole Golf League. A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Holy Family Church, with Franciscan Friars officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Wright & Salmon Mortuary, with recitation of the rosary at 5:30 p.m. Additional visitation will be 30 minutes before the Mass at the church. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Church.

HILYARD, Morris W. – born 09/21/1919, Bunker Hill, IL; died 07/07/2002, aged 82

Morris W. Hilyard of Lake Wales, formerly of Bunker Hill, Ill., died Sunday, July 7, 2002, at Dove Health Care of Lake Wales. He was 82. Memorial services will be held Thursday, July 11, at 4 p.m., at the Burns Avenue Church of God, with Rev. Jack Hilligoss officiating. Born Sept. 21, 1919, in Bunker Hill, he moved to Lake Wales in 1983. He was a professor and chairman of the technical department at Jefferson College in Hillsboro, Mo., before retiring in 1980. He received his master of arts degree in education from the University of Missouri and began his career as a high school industrial arts teacher. He later went to work for McDonald-Douglas as a mechanical engineer, before moving on to Jefferson College. He was a life member of the National Education Association and past member of the Hillsboro Rotary Club. He was active in church choirs and enjoyed teaching Sunday School. He was an avid flower and vegetable gardener and enjoyed fishing. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Hilyard; daughter, Linda Fasel of Lake Wales; and grandchildren, Sara and Jeremy Fasel of Lake Wales. Marion Nelson Funeral Home of Lake Wales is handling arrangements.

Barbara Ann Pellicer, 57 , San Mateo, died peacefully at home Sun., Jan. 7, 2007. Barbara was born in Illinois and had worked as a staffing coordinator at a nursing home. She leaves behind her husband, Gene Pellicer, San Mateo; parents, the Rev. Manning and Mrs. Ann Miller, Boliver, Mo.; brothers, the Rev. David Miller, Rayville, Mo., and Dennis Miller, Kansas City, Mo.; sister, Brenda Tilley, Boliver, Mo.; and nieces and nephews. A service is not planned. Edward Earl Rowlands, 85, of Exeter Avenue, West Pittston, died Monday at ManorCare Nursing Center, Kingston. Born Feb. 28, 1914, in Staunton, Ill., he was a son of the late John and Mary Ellen (Bell) Rowlands and a graduate of Exeter High School. Before retiring in 1995, he was self-employed and founded Earl's Beef Co., Hughestown, in 1947. He was a member of Holy Mother of Sorrows Polish National Church, Dupont, and the Young Men's Society of Resurrection. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Stella Gill; brothers, Roy, Walton, William, Tim, John, Wilson, Woodrow, Robert and Joseph; and sisters, Floss, Hazel, Gladys, Dorothy and Bessie. Surviving are his son, David, Hughestown; daughter, Barbara Cino, Rockville, Md.; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday from the Howell-Lussi Funeral Home, West Pittston, with a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Holy Mother of Sorrows Polish National Catholic Church. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Dupont. Memorial donations may be made to Holy Mother of Sorrows Polish National Catholic Church; or the Salvation Army, West Pittston.

SIMKUS, WALTER V., 87 , of New Port Richey, died Saturday (Dec. 1, 2001) at Madison Pointe Nursing Center in New Port Richey. Born in Benld, Ill., he came here 30 years ago from Binghamton, N.Y. He was a retired supervisor employed by Endicott-Johnson in Johnson City, N.Y., with 28 years of service. In Binghamton, he was a member of the Lithuania Lodge, Democratic County chairman for five years and was a Boy Scout Leader. Survivors include his wife, Helen; a son, Walter J., Brandon; a daughter, Carol J. Drumm, Nags Head, N.C.; a sister; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. National Cremation Society, New Port Richey.
