Obituary: Died at Farmington, Mo., June 11, 1877, Mrs. Angelina
NELSON, aged 59 years, 2 months and 11 days. The subject of this
notice was born in the town of Lyman, N.H., April 2nd, 1818. SHe was married
at the age of 18 to her now bereaved consort, Rev. H. NELSON, late
of the Southern Illinois Conference of the M.E. Church. Soon after marriage
she removed west and with a large circle of relatives settled in and near
Brighton. About 1840 she made a clear and decided profession of faith in
Christ during a memorable meeting held in Brighton, by Revs. James LEATON
and L.C. PITNER, and continued in the faith and in connection with
the communion of her early and deliberate choice to the end of her earthly
probation. For twelve years she cheerfully shared, with her husband, the
labors and sacrifices of an itenerant life in the above mentioned conference,
and many yet live to testify of her devotion to duty, and the steady clear
light of her christian example. She was the mother of eight children, six
of whom passed on before their mother to the spirit land. Though possessing
a frail constitution and delicate health, yet such was her prudence of
habit in wisely applying her energies that she accomplished much, and the
average and aggregate of her life work compares favorably even with the
robust and healthy. Orderly in her domestic arrangements; calm and quiet
in her habits of life, and ever impelled with the noble purpose to do the
duties of each hour as the hour passed, she meekly filled her mission and
peacefully entered into her rest. Her remains were brought to Brighton
for internment and her obsequies were attended by a very large circle of
relatives and sympathizing friends. The service was conducted by Rev J.A.
SCARRITT in the M.E. Church,and the pastor of the church, Rev I.B.
REYNOLDS, performed the burial service at the North Cemetery.

Obituary: Henry C. NIEMANN, one of the most prominent
farmers in central Illinois, passed to final rest
Saturday morning at 7:35 o'clock at his farm home 2 1/2
miles northeast of this city in Walshville. He died on
the farm on which he was born March 8,1865,a son of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Fred NIEMANN, pioneer settlers of this
community. He reached the advanced age of 86 years, 3
months and 29 days. He had been in failing health the
past several months, and for some time was a patient at
St. Francis hospital in Litchfield. Surviving are his
wife, Mrs. Louisa NIEMANN, nee LOWENSTEIN; two sons:
Clarence NIEMANN of Litchfield, and Alfred NIEMANN of the
Mt. Olive community; two daughters: Mrs. Amos KEUNE of
South Litchfield, and Mrs. Edwin BOEHME of this city;
also nine granchildren and a host of more distant
relatives. He was proprietor of Niemansville, the
recreation center several miles east of this city, which
he established on his property some years ago, and which
is used for family, community and church gatherings.He
owned extensive farm acerage. He was an active member of
St. John's Lutheran church in South Litchfield. The body
remained in state at Becker & Son Funeral Home in this
city until Monday at noon, at which time it was removed
to the South Lichfield church. Rev. Karl HEUCHERT
officiated at funeral services there Monday afternoon
at 2:30 o'clock. The body was laid to final rest in
St.John's Lutheran cemetery, with the following nephews
serving as pallbearers: William MONKE, Harold MARBURGER,
August SCHUETTE, Elmer KEISER, Herman NIEMANN, George
NIEMANN, William H. NIEMANN and Wilmer NIEHAUS.

Obituary: Death of Geo. NIXON. George NIXON, Sr. died
at his home west of Carlinville, Saturday morning, October 9, at 7:30 o'clock,
aged 72 years, 6 months and 2 days. Mr. Nixon leaves surviving him his
wife, Mrs. Mary NIXON and nine children. He was well liked by all
his neighbors and friends and many persons will deplore his demise. The
funeral services were held from Charity church Monday afternoon at 2:30
o'clock with interment in the Charity cemetery. Rev. D. P. DEADRICK
preached the funeral sermon.

Obituary: Mrs. Augusta NORDER, who resided in this city
for over 60 years, was called by death Sunday morning at
8:05 a.m. at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr.
and Mrs. Norman A. SCHELLER, with whom she was making her
home. The aged lady had the misfortune to fracture her
arm in a fall at her home about five weeks ago, and last
Sunday suffered paralytic stroke. Mrs. NORDER, nee MAI,
was born in Germany on September 22,1860, thus reaching
the advanced age of 81 years, 3 months and 26 days. She
came to this country as a young girl and several years
later came to this city, where she has lived ever since.
Her husband, the late Frank NORDER Sr., preceded her in
death on January 20, 1913. Three sons, Peter, William,
and Charles also preceded their mother in death.
Surviving are five sons: Cornelius, and Frank NORDER OF
Mt. Olive, Walter NORDER of Edwardsville, Ervin NORDER of
St. Louis and Roy NORDER of East St. Louis: five
daughters: Mrs. James BURNS of Granite City, Mrs William
SCHNEIDER of Edwardsville, Mrs. Dan ALMON of St. LOuis,
Mrs. Leonard EDMINSTON of Chicago and Mrs. Norman
SCHELLER of this city; and one half-sister Mrs. Sophie
BOHLEN, of Alton; 27 grandchildren and 12 great-
grandchildren. Final rites were held Tuesday afternoon at
2:00 o'clock at Becker & Son Funeral Home, with Rev.
Lisle E. MEWMAN, pastor of the Methodist church
officiating. Mrs. Lambert FRANZEN, with Mrs. Clarence
MARBURGER as accompanist, sang "Abide with me" and "Rock
of ages". The body was laid to rest in the Union Miners
Cemetery, casket bearers being John LUSCHER, William
BRUENGER, Harry BOLINGER, Edward STIEHL, John GOSCH and
Rieke RIEKEN. Among the out of town relatives in
attendance were Mr. and Mrs. Walter NORDER and Eileen and
Jean SCHNEIDERA of Ewardsville: Mr. and Mrs. Lynn STONE
and Mrs. Charles KUEHNEN of Staunton; Mr. and Mrs. Ervin
NORDER and family and Mr. and Mrs. Dan ALMON and children
of St. Louis; Mr. and Mrs. Roy NORDER and son of East St.
Louis; Mr. and Mrs. L. K. EDMINSTON and children of
Chicago; Mr.and Mrs. James BURNS of Granite City:
Mrs. Art HABEKOST of Nameoki; Mr. and Mrs. MICAMP of
Edwardsville; Mr.and Mrs. Orlin NORDER of Collinsville;
Mrs. Henry OHM and daughter of Edwardsville and Mr.and
Mrs. Leslie CANTON of Springfield.
