Looking for parents of Arthur Leland Sheppard born 11/3/1861 in Girard, Macoupin Co., IL. Evidently they both died and left him an orphan. He married Veronica Diane Cline about 1887, possibly in Illinois. One known child: Edbert Edgar Sheppard born 3/5/1889, possibly in Illinois. He married Mabel R. Foster (Sterling) about 1913 maybe in Wood River, Madison Co., IL. At least that's where their first child was born. Mabel was born in Havana, IL. and first husband was Ira S. Sterling, of Mclean Co., Funks Grove.

I am looking for decendents of John McKinney, Jr. who was born in South Carolina in 1760, migrated to Illinois around 1800 and died in Macoupin County in 1843. Three sons and one daughter migrated to Texas in 1846 but three daughters married and stayed in Illinois. Diadema McKinney married William Hadley, Mary (Polly) McKinney married Bill Gillam, and Susan McKinney married a Mr. Otwell. I would love to correspond with anyone related to them. I am Maggie CRAIG Ambler (born Oct 30, 1953.) I am new in genealogy and am searching for information on my father's family. My father was Ralph Curtis CRAIG Jr. Born in Gillespie on January 8th 1928 to Ralph Curtis Craig Sr and Gertrude Henrietta Davis. I understand his father died shortly after his younger sister Shirley was born, around 1930. The main link to his family is the middle name "Curtis". I believe his grandfather was named William Curtis, he had uncles named William Curtis and Earl Curtis and the middle name Curtis was given to male children for several generations back.

HART family. My 4th greatgrandmother was Susan HART Roberts. She was born in 1801, married in 1818 in Maury Co., Tn. She moved with her husband to Montgomery Co., Ill in 1828. In a local history, printed in 1872, it says that Susan had a brother named JOHN HART who settled in Macoupin Co., Ill. I would like to find out who JOHN and SUSAN HART's parents were and where they were from.

His wife, Josephine, and children, Margaret, Helene, and Gertrude, and a nephew of a friend, Herman LIPPOLD, later immigrated to Carlinville about 1911. John worked as a coal miner in Carlinville. My wife's great-grandfather, William SEELEY was born August 23, 1856 "on Lookinglass Prairie, Macoupin Co., Illinois." His father, Roswell Hamilton SEELEY seems to have been a doctor that moved frequently in St. Louis and to the east and north-east threreof. Could anyone tell me where Lookinglass Prairie is?
