Obituary: The Rev. Father Adolph F. SCHNEIDER is dead at
his home in Edgewood, Ill., and the funeral will be held from St. Joseph's
church in this city, Friday morning, January 30, at 10 o'clock. Father
SCHNEIDER was the pastor of St. Joseph's church for a few months
following the late Father ADER, and though he was here but a short
time endeared himself in the hearts of his parishioners. So far as is known
he has no relatives in this country. His remains will be brought to this
city and will lie in state in the church.

Obituary: Old and Respected Girard Resident Called by Death Mrs.
A. D. SCHOEN, one of Girard's aged and highly respected citizens died
Friday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. T. J. GARDNER, following
an illness of several months duration of cancer of the liver, aged 75 years.
Mrs. SCHOEN was born in Germany and came to America with her parents
when sixteen years of age and settled in New Orleans, La. The family resided
in the Crescent city for several years when they moved to St. Louis, where
she was married to Mr. A. D. SCHOEN and the couple later moved to
Staunton, where they made their home for many years. From this place they
removed to Girard, remaining there for five years, thence to Farmersville
and later to Divernon and at this later place Mr. SCHOEN passed
away a few years ago. Since his demise Mrs. SCHOEN had made her
home among her children and last fall came to Girard, where she resided
until her death. Four children survive as follows: Mrs. Louise BERNARD
of Chicago, Mrs. Helen SCHOENING of Bible Grove, Clay county, Gustave
SCHOEN and Mrs. T. J. GARDNER of Girard. Besides the husband,
six sons and two daughters have preceded her to the grave. Funeral services
will take place Sunday, March 5, at 2:30 p.m. from the German Lutheran
church in Girard. Prof. STRECKFUL of Concordia college, Springfield,
officiating. The burial will take place in the Girard cemetery.

Obituary: MRS. TUSNELDA SCHROEDER BURIAL HERE FRIDAY FOR CALIFORNIA
LADY, FORMERLY OF GIRARD Friends here have received word of the death
of Mrs. Tusnelda SCHROEDER, 73 of Oakland, California. She died
November 6 in a Los Angeles Hospital. Tussie, as she was known to her Girard
friends, was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. W. RING. She was reared
in Girard and was a graduate of the Girard high school. Later the family
move to California. For many years she had successfully conducted gift
shops in Hyannis Mass and in California. In her eagerness obtain articles
of unusual interest for her customers she made various trips to European
countries and to the interiors of Japan and China. Mr. and Mrs. Percy ENSLOW
of Walnut Hill, California will accompany the body to Illinois, arriving
in St. Louis this (Thursday) afternoon, and going first to the Carroll
funeral home in Litchfield. Services to be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the
C.M. Shane Funeral home in Girard with Rev. E. A. McFARLAND officiating.
Burial will be in Girard Cemetery. Surviving are four sisters, Mrs.
Amanda BRENDEL, Mrs. Flora THOMPSON, Mrs. Julia STEINKAMP
and Mrs. Rena ENSLOW, all of California.

Obituary: Mrs. Joseph SCHWAB, who lived near Nilwood, died
at her home just at noon, Thursday, after being seriously ill for five
weeks. She was aged 29 years. She is survived by her husband and two children
and by her sisters Mrs. Mary HERMAN of Honey Point and Mrs. Annie
THOMAS of Brushy Mound, and brothers Frank TRUNK of Brushy
Mound. Mrs. SCHWAB has been in ill health for several years. She
was faithful member of the German Catholic church and attended regularly
when able. She was a very loveable mother and wife and will be mourned
by a host of sorrowing relatives and friends. The funeral will be held
at the St. Joseph's church in this city between 9 and 10 o'clock Saturday
morning.

"Ollie" SCHWALLENSTECKER, 80, of Bunker Hill, IL, died at his
residence on Tuesday, October 1, 2019. He was born January 10, 1939, in
Woodburn, IL to Louis SCHWALLENSTECKER & Rosalind (WOOD) KAESHAMER. He married
Judy (PRICE) SCHWALLENSTECKER on March 30, 1957 in Bunker Hill, IL. He was
retired after having been a supervisor for Shell Oil. Ollie served on the Bunker
Hill City Council, Bunker Hill Library Board, and Macoupin County Board and was
on the BHHS 2016 Wall of Honor. He was a member of Bunker Hill Masonic Lodge
#151 A.F. & A.M, Bunker Hill Fire Department, Shell Wood River Refinery History
Museum, Minutemen Quarterback Club, BHHS Alumni Association, Meissner PTA,
Macoupin County Route 66 Association of Illinois, Illinois Route 66 Motor Tour,
Macoupin County Historical Society & County Genealogical Society, Southern IL
Mustang Association, Mt. Olive Soulsby Shell Station Restoration Coordinator,
Solar Car Race volunteer, Khoury League Coach and the “Voice of Minutemen
Football.” He is survived by his spouse, Judy SCHWALLENSTECKER of Bunker Hill,

who died Thursday, May 26, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. B.J. PANSKE,
near Butler, Ill., were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the

was in the Mt.Olive cemetery. Mr. SCHWEPPE was born in

Thelma M. SCROGGINS passed away at her home at the age of 96. She is survived by her daughter Bev CRANDELL, her sister Winnie DAHL, her brothers Kenny (Marilee) DUNHAM and Raymond (Anita) DUNHAM. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons James SCROGGINS and Jerry SCROGGINS, five sisters Roberta FRITCHE, Helen LYNN, Mary CAMERON, Marjory BAKER, and Reah GRANDAHL. Also preceded by two brothers Ben DUNHAM and Marlin DUNHAM.
She was born in Plainview, IL to Maynard and Lucy (MOWEN) DUNHAM. She married Leland SCROGGINS on May 5, 1945 in Bunker Hill, IL. He died May 28, 2006. She grew up in Gillespie, IL and graduated from Gillespie High School. After her marriage she and her husband lived in Bunker Hill, IL. and Sullivan, MO. They moved to Greenville in 1952 and to Mulberry Grove in 1957. She had worked as a regional manager for Tupperware and had last worked selling real estate for HOLZINGER Realty in Greenvile. She was a member of The Mulberry Grove United Methodist Church, The Order of The Eastern Star, Mulberry Grove Homemakers, Gold Star Mothers, and The Mulberry Grove Lioness Club. Memorial contributions are suggested to The Mulberry Grove United Methodist Church or Bond County Hospice.

Obituary: Miss Ella SEAMAN, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William
SEAMAN, died at the family home near the C. & A. depot, this
city, about 8:30 o'clock Tuesday evening. She was aged 42 years, 1 month
and 1 day, and had been ill only three days. Besides her parents, two brothers,
and two sisters survive the deceased and her death was quite a shock to
her family and friends, by whom she was much loved and highly esteemed.
The funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.

Obituary: George Riley SEAMAN died at the home of his sister,
Mrs. William ROGERS in the Third Ward, Tuesday evening at 9:30 o'clock
after an illness of several weeks' duration at the age of 71 years, two
months and eight days. Mr. SEAMAN was born in Carlinville, his parents
being Sylvanus and Nancy SEAMAN both of whom died a number of years
ago. He has always made this city his home. He was a blacksmith by trade
and for many years was employed in the George Siegel foundry and
machine shop. Giving up his work there he was employed at the electric
light and gas plant when owned by W.L. MOUNTS and has been in continuous
service there for thirty-six years. The deceased was a man who nearly everyone
knew and respected and his passing is regretted by all who knew him. He
was unassuming in manner but his influence was always for the better. His
wife preceded him in death and he leaves to mourn his demise, two daughters,
Mrs. Abbie SEAMAN DEEDS of this city and Mrs. Mary STARKWEATHER
of Alton; one sister, Mrs. Millie ROGERS and one brother, Samuel
SEAMAN, both of this city, besides a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held Thursday at 2:30 o'clock at the First Baptist Church
and was attended by a large number of relatives and friends. The services
were conducted by the pastor Rev. R. T. GASAWAY, assisted by Rev.
Vincent VAN HORN, pastor of the Methodist church. The flower girls
were Eleanor EMRICK, Mrs. O'CONNELL, Harriet CHALLENS,
Elsa CLEVENGER, Lucy ROGERS, Mildred BOATMAN. The
pallbearers were Albert EMRICK, Albert ROGERS, Irwin COPE,
Virgil JEFFRIES, Patrick MCDONALD, William DAMBAUGH,
all fellow employees of the Illinois Power & Light Corporation. Interment
was in the city cemetery.

Obituary: The death of Mrs. Samuel SEAMAN, aged 54
years,
occurred at her home in Third Ward, Tuesday evening, at 7:15 o'clock.
Deceased
had been ill for the past eleven months, but partially recovered and
recently
became worse again. Everything possible was done for her, but to no
avail,
and the end finally came and she passed away peacefully and quietly.
Besides
her husband, Mrs. SEAMAN is survived by three children,
Sylvanus,
Charles, and Nellie, one daughter Mattie, having died on March 21,
1907.
She was a good mother, devoted wife and a faithful member of the
Baptist
Church, and has a host of friends who sympathize with the family in
their
bereavement. Funeral services will be held from the Baptist Church
Friday
afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, with interment in the city cemetery.
(Note: This is the obituary of Martha J. DAVIS SEAMAN, known to
her family as "Mattie". Her age at death is questionable. She
was the daughter of Jackson DAVIS and Mary TIPSON. She
was
buried in Carlinville City Cemetery.)

Obituary: Sylvanus SEAMAN, one of the oldest settlers in
Carlinville, died suddenly in this city yesterday. Mr. SEAMAN was
in his 87th year, and was born in Fairfield, Herkamer county, New York.
He had been a resident of this city for fifty-two years. He came to this
state when most of it was a wilderness. The deceased was an old stage coach
driver and drove one of the stages in this county when Joe HOWELL
was postmaster. Mr. SEAMAN was always found on hand to defend his
country having served in the Mexican and Civil Wars. The deceased lives
six children, all of whom reside in this city. The funeral services will
take place from the residence tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. under the auspices
of the G.A.R. post, Dr. J.B. WOLF will officiate.

Obituary: Burt SELF, conductor of the switch engine on the
Wabash, lost his life in a peculiar accident on the No. 15 switch Monday
afternoon. The engine was backing to No. 15, and SELF was riding
on the tank. The jag was going about six miles an hour, when the track
spread and the tank and engine tipped over. There is an embankment along
the track and SELF jumped and tried to get up this embankment, but
the coal from the tender caught him and he was pinned down. Engineer NOONAN
and fireman Theo. HOOG jumped from the engine and escaped injuries.
SELF called for help and directed the men how to get to him. The
top force at No.15 was immediatly notified, and rushed to help. SELF
talked from beneath the coal for thirty minutes, but was dead when they
reached him. His body was placed in an ambulance and taken to BECKER's
undertaking parlors, and then taken to Litchfield. He was one of the most
popular conductors on the road, and had a large number of warm friends
in Mt.Olive. He leaves a wife and two children.

Obituary: Death of Marshall SEWELL
Marshall SEWELL, who for ten or twelve years has resided in Bunker
Hill, died on Tuesday morning last. During his residence in this county
he has taken quite a prominent part in political matters, and exerted considerable
influence in his own and surrounding townships. For several years he has
not been engaged in business, but has been living on his income. He was
over fifty years of age and leaves a family and many friends to mourn his
death. His disease was consumption from which he had been a sufferer for
several years.

Obituary: Sarah Elizabeth CRUMP, excellent woman, mother
of large family, laid to rest. Sarah Elizabeth CRUMP was born January
12, 1853 in North Otter Township, Macoupin County, Illinois and was a daughter
of William and Elizabeth CRUMP. Her life until her marriage was
spent on the old CRUMP homestead in North Otter. She was united
in marriage on August 24, 1875 to James SHIPLEY also of North Otter.
To this union were born eleven children. Izuma, Samuel, Carry, Clara, William,
Charlie, Olive, Oliver, Alson, Truman and Elizabeth. Five of these preceded
her in death, six are living. In girlhood she united with the Baptist church
at Buchanan. Later she united with the Presbyterian church at Palmyra where
she still belonged at her death. She died October 2, 1926, at 11:30 p.m.,
at her home near Palmyra. She was a loving wife and a devoted mother and
also a true and devoted Christian. She leaves to mourn their loss, her
husband and six children, William SHIPLEY, Bunker Hill; Alson SHIPLEY,
Palmyra; Carry and Izuma at home; Mrs. Clara BARROW, Granite City;
Mrs. Grover HARRIS, Modesto. Fourteen grandchildren and one brother,
Thomas CRUMP, Washington and one sister, Martha HOWARD, of
Arkansas also a host of other relative and friends. Funeral services were
held in the Presbyterian church Tuesday conducted by Rev. V. E. KING.
The body was laid to rest in the Oak Hill cemetery.
