In acordance with arrangements made Post met in City Hall Apr. 6th 1891
where the quarto centennial of the G. A, R, was duly celebrated by
reading
Gen Orders # 18 and the rendering a program consisting of addresses by
com. S. McKnight, Rev. Donaldson, Rev Com. Layman, interspersed with
music
- instrumental and vocal. Com. G. B. Weed having resigned his position
as delegate to Annual State Encampment to be held at Decatur, Ill Apr.
7th, 8th & 9th 1891.T, A, Ellis was duly elected a delegate in his
place.

Proposition of comrade Knight to give an entertainment for the benefit
of Luke Mayfield Post, G.A.R., upon certain conditions: viz: Post to
pay
W. J., Knight the sum of $15 dollar to deliver his “Illustrated lecture
Through Georgia in 1862”. Knight agrees to furnish all advertising
matter,
except newspaper reports, pay his own hotel bill and incidental
expenses.Post
agrees to post all bills, furnish hall and all other incidental
expenses.
Lecture to be delivered May 19, 1891.
The above contract was entered into by B. R> Merry on the part of W.
J. Knight and comrades F. W. Gates, Thomas Warren and D. C. Routzahn.
After
discussion, the action taken by Com/s. Gates, Warren and Routzahn was
endorsed,
and the same comrades were appointed a committee to arrange all matters
and carry out the terms of the agreement.

Subject of Macoupin Co. reunion for 1891 discussed and it was decided

allow the business men of Girard and vicinity to raise a guarantee fund
of not less than $300 dollars as a condition upon which this Post will
use its influence in securing said reunion.

A resolution appropriating two hundred dollars of the proceeds of the
re-union
to the monument fund. A motion to amend the resolution by comrade T. W.
Thacker, to appropriate the net proceeds of the re-union, $277.55/100,
to the monument fund.
After discussion the amendment prevailed.

Resolutions of Respect and Condolence on the death of.
At a regular meeting of Luke Mayfield Post No 516 Dept of Ill G.A. R
on the 3rd day of Dec 1892. The
following preamble and resolutions were unanimously adopted.
Whereas, In view of the loss we have sustained by the decease of our
friend and comrade James M. Lynch and the still greater loss sustained
by those who were nearest and dearest to him, wherefore be it;
Resolved,
That in the death of James M. Lynch this Post laments the loss of a
member
whose wisdom and ability exercised in aid of our organization will be
held
in greatful remembrance; who was ever ready to proffer the hand of aid
and the voice of sympathy to the needy and distressed, an active member
of this Post whose utmost endeavors were exerted for its welfare and
prosperity,
a friend, member and hard coworker who was dear to us all; A citizen
whose
upright and noble life was a standard of emulation to his fellows;
Resolved,
That the heartfelt sympathy of this Post be extended to his family in
their
affliction and commend them for consolation to him who orders all
things
for the best; and whose chastisement are meant in mercy; Resolved, That
these resolutions be spread into the records of this Post and a copy
thereof
be transmitted to the family of our deceased comrade.

a Womans Relief Corpse (sic). This idea also met with approval and a
