1956 Honor Roll

Through legislation by the 68th General Assembly, the Illinois Veterans' Commission was charged with the responsibility of compiling, publishing, and distributing an up-to-date Honor Roll. This Honor Roll includes the names, burial places, and other related information concerning all members of the Armed Forces of the United States buried in the State of Illinois. The intent of this legislation was to provide a record to assist in honoring our dead.

This booklet contains the names of those veterans buried in this county prior to July 1, 1955. The burials are listed by cemetery and are as correct as possible. In some instances it has been impossible to locate the graves and available records have not always supplied needed information.

The Illinois Veterans' Commission wishes to acknowledge the contribution made by the individual members of the various veteran organizations in obtaining the data contained in this publication."
