Obituary: Gillespie News – Child Burned to Death. Sad Accident Occurs
at Gillespie on Tuesday Morning when Infant Burns to Death. - One of
the saddest accident that we have been called upon the report for a long
time, took place at the residence of John SANDERS in Gillespie,
Tuesday morning about 10:30 when his infant daughter was burned to death.
The mother had gone to town on a short errand, leaving the little girl
at home. The SANDERS family live in the same house with Mrs. EWING,
and Mrs. EWING heard the little girl's screams and went to her aid
and found her enveloped in flames. She did all she could to rescue the
child but did not succeed in extinguishing the flames until the child was
burned all over the body. Dr. KING was called at once and dressed
the injuries, but gave very little hopes of recovery. She lingered through
the day and passed away at 5 o'clock the same day in great pain. Coroner
KARNES was called and came Wednesday morning and held an inquest,
the jury returning a verdict in accord with the above facts. It seems that
the child in some way secured some matches and in lighting them, had "set
her clothes on fire. It is too bad that such accidents occur and yet the
horror of such calamities do not seem to impress the danger of having matches
within the reach of children, on the part of the parents. The father of
the deceased child is a miner and is employed at the No. 1 mine of the
Superior Coal Co. The funeral will be held from the Methodist church, Thursday
morning at 10:00 o'clock, Rev. SPRAGG officiating, and the remains
will be laid to rest in the Gillespie cemetery.

Obituary: Girard: Died In this city on last Sunday March
3rd, 1889 at 2 a.m. Miss Maude SANFORD aged 20 years, 2 months and
10 days. Deceased was born in this city December 23, 1868, a short time
after her birth her parents moved on a farm west of this city. A few years
after they again moved to this city and she attended school, and was a
bright pupil, and was beloved by all her schoolmates. She has resided in
this city up to the time of her death. She has been for several months
a sufferer of that dreaded disease consumption, and has borne her sufferings
with patience until death claimed her as his victim. She leaves a mother
and other relatives to mourn her loss, also a host of friends, in whose
society she was beloved and will be sadly missed by them. The mother and
relatives have the heart felt sympathy of the entire community in their
bereavement. She is gone, but not forgotten. The funeral took place from
the Baptist church Tuesday 10 a.m. Rev. KITZMILLER officiating,
after which her remains were conveyed to Union Chapel cemetery west
of here and then deposited in mother earth. Rest in Peace.

Obituary: George SAWYER of Gillespie well known in Litchfield,
died Friday night at his home, from the effects of an abscess on the lungs.
He was born in Macoupin County and was 55 years old. He worked in the coal
mines here 14 years and 4 years ago removed to Gillespie, where he lived
since. He is survived by his widow and 2 children, Mrs. Claudia KAVANAUGH
of Gillespie and George SAWYER of Gillespie.

Obituary: Mrs. Sawah (SAWYER) SAWYER died 10 Jun 1910 at Staunton,
aged 79 years, 11 months, 25 days. She was born 15 Jun 1830 in North Carolina. She
married Henry SAWYER in 1846, and he died in 1884. Their children:
Mary, wife of Harrison WOOLDRIDGE; Luella, wife of William BEST
of Worden; Wesley, Cleveland, John and Marion all of Staunton. Her
brothers and sisters: Frank SAWYER of Ramsey, IL.; Marion SAWYER of
Nokomis, IL.; Maria FARR of Gillespie; Ollie BROWN of
Texas. She was buried at Tine Sawyer Cemetery on 11 June. She and her invalid
son John lived together in their home just west of the public school and during
her declining years she faithfully cared for him. She left 12
grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Obituary: Aged Lady Died Monday Afternoon. Mrs. Christine
SCHAEPER Passed Away at Home of Her. Mrs. Christine
SCHAEPER, for the past 50 years a resident of our city, on Monday afternoon 12:30
o'clock passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fred MORGAN. She was 80
years, 7 months, 14 days of age and death came following a lingering illness. Mrs.
SCHAEPER whose maiden name was HACKMAN, was born in Westphalen,
Germany on Feb 5, 1852. On March 5, 1876, she was united in marriage with Fred
SCHAEPER and of their union six children were born. Mr. and Mrs.
SCHAEPER came to Staunton to reside in 1883. Fifteen years ago Mr.
SCHAEPER was claimed by
death and 4 of the children also preceded their mother into the unknown beyond.
Twin sons died in Germany; Minnie aged 13 passed away in 1889 and Louis
SCHAEPER was killed in an accident at #7 mine in 1924. The funeral will take place
this afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the MORGAN home followed by services at 2
o'clock at the St. Paul church, Rev. A. H. WEGENER officiating. Interment will be at
Staunton City cemetery. Mrs. SCHAEPER is survived by 2 daughters,
Mrs. Fred MORGAN and Mrs. Emma LANGFRIED, both of Staunton;
6 grandchildren, one brother in Germany and other more distant relatives and friends.

Obituary: Prominent Farmer Near Here Dies. Stephen Henry SCHAEPER,
a prominent farmer of near this city died at his home at 9:00 o'clock Friday
morning, Nov. 26 of cancer of the stomach. He had been suffering for over
a year and on May 6 last went to a hospital in St. Louis but after a few
weeks treatment with no improvement, he returned to his home. Mr.
SCHAEPERwas born in Cappin Tecklenberg, Westfalia in the year 1834, on Oct.
8 and lived to the age of 75 years 1 month and 18 days. At the age of 23
years, in 1857, he came to America and worked at St. Charles, Mo. Later
he went to St. Louis where he met and married Elizabeth MUNSBERG.
Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs. SCHAEPER all of whom are
living except Minnie wife of Chris RUEHRUP, who died several years
ago. The five children still living are Mrs. Fritz BENTRUP, Louis,
Henry, August and Julia. The funeral services were conducted at the family
residence at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon by Rev. LA RAUSCH of the
St. Paul's church and burial in the Spangle Cemetery. Within less
than three months ago there were 3 SCHAEPER brothers but now there
is only one living, August SCHAEPER resident of the North End. Herman
SCHAEPER died Aug. 2, 1909 just 3 months 24 days previous to the
death of his brother Stephen and his widow died 10 days previous to the
death of her brother-in-law.

Obituary: Death's Sudden Call. The Demise of Peter SCHAFER
Removes Another Prominent Citizen. Peter SCHAFER, one of the oldest
and best-known citizens of Macoupin County, died suddenly at his home on
South Plum Street in this city, Friday, Aug. 19, 1898 at 11 o clock p.m..
Aged 73 years, 7 months and 28 days, the immediate cause of his death being
heart trouble. Mr. SCHAFER was apparently in his usual good health
during the day, and was about the city in the morning greeting friends
and making purchases of delicacies for family use. In the evening he ate
a hearty supper, then sat with his good wife on the porch of their cozy
home until about 9 o clock when he retired without complaint of even feeling
uncomfortable and soon dropped into a restful sleep. At 11 o clock, while
Mrs. SCHAFER was in the room with him and still awake, he roused
a little, gave a slight groan and gasp, and all was over. The spirit
of Peter SCHAFER had taken its flight and the aged body was at rest.
Deceased was born in Kehrig, near Coblenz, Germany, December 22,
1824, and came to America in 1843. On December 10, 1851, he was married
to Miss Mary M. FLORI, sister of Adam FLORI, and Mrs. Elizabeth
SCHOENBORN, of this city, who survives him as does one son Nicholas,
who is married and resides in St. Louis. He also has one sister, Mrs.
Susan DIETRICH, living at Renault, Monroe County. For the past 44
years, Mr. SCHAFER had resided in Macoupin County, living on a farm
about four miles out on the Zanesville road - now known as the BARNSTABLE
farm - until about seven years ago when he retired from active farm life
and moved into this city. During his residence in East Carlinville township,
he served numerous terms as highway commissioner, and was once elected
county coroner, serving in that capacity during the FISHBACK administration,
as sheriff, and seceding to that office at Mr. FISHBACK s death.
Through his entire residence in Macoupin County, he proved himself an honorable
citizen, and naught but good words are spoken of him by all who knew him,
accompanied by expressions of regret at his sudden demise, and sympathy
for the bereaved widow and sorrowing relatives. All appreciate the fact
that a truly good man has been called from our midst, but while we deeply
deplore the loss of an upright, valuable citizen and neighbor, none can
pronounce the dispensation, untimely, and all bow in humble submission.
The funeral took place from St. Joseph's Church at 9 o clock Monday morning.
The service was attended by a large concourse of relatives and friends
of the deceased who came to pay their last tribute of respect to one whom
they had long known and learned to love and respect for his many good qualities.
Peter SCHAFER was a good man in the highest and noblest sense of
that term. He was a man who squared his actions by the rule of right and
came as near living up to the golden rule as any man who ever resided in
this community. Solemn high mass was celebrated with Father SCRIBUR
of Havana acting as celebrant, assisted by Fathers HOVEN of Carrollton,
STICK of Morrisonville, and, SOMMER, of this city. The orators
were Father HOVEN in English and Father SOMMER in German.
The pall bearers were Casper WESTERMEIER, Jr., H.C. HESSELDENZ,
Lawrence WATERMEIER, Ferdinand KNOERZER, Conrad DIETZ,
and Tony ENDAJAN. At the conclusion of the services at the church,
the remains were conveyed to the Catholic Cemetery and there laid to rest.
A Deserved Enoomium. I know it is only necessary to suggest it and you will readily grant me enough of your valuable space in which to pay a short tribute to the memory of the Hon. Peter SHAFER from whose obsequies we have just returned. I flatter myself that in a social and business way I knew Mr. SHAFER as well, if not better than anyone outside of his own family. He lived to a ripe old age consequently witnessed the wonderful development of this country and endured the trials and privations of a frontier life, but by industry and economy he acquired enough of this world s good to render his declining years comfortable and happy. In the eloquent words of the Reverend HOVEN he illustrated in his life, the qualities of honesty, benevolence and virtue. In public, as well as in his private life, he illustrated these principles in a wonderful degree, so much that many now holding official positions, might profit by adopting his methods and imitating his example. He was a modest nonassuming man, in all things, following the dictates of his own conscience in all the relations of life, as a citizen, husband and father, he rose in the full measure of true manhood. With him It was light at eventide. His life work done; he quietly fell asleep to awake to the resurrection of the Lord. Like a ripe sheaf, he has been harvest above. Peace to his ashes. A Friend.

Obituary: The funeral of Anton August SCHELLER,
Sr., of whose death we made mention in our last issue, was held Sunday
afternoon, the services being conducted by Rev PUELTEMAN at the
German M E church. The deceased was born in Saxony, Germany, and was united
in marriage to Johanna GUENTNER in 1862. In 1886 he came to this
country, making Mt. Olive his home, following mining for a livelihood.
His character was of the highest, and he was respected by all who knew
him. He is survived by his wife, four sons, and seven daughters.

evening that Arnold SCHELLER had been called by death at his home in
Lynnwood, California, at the age of 76 years. The family formerly resided
in this city (Mt. Olive), leaving about 25 years ago for California. Surviving are his wife,
Mrs. Minnie LANG SCHELLER; seven children; Henry, George, Theo. and
Elmer SCHELLER, Mrs. Emma DAHLKE, Mrs. Hilda WILLIAMS
and Mrs. Rose CARLSON, all of California; one brother: Ferdinand
SCHELLER, of Mt. Olive; one sister, Mrs. Lydia

Obituary: Death Calls Aged Lady. Mrs. Ida SCHELLER, wife of Julius SCHELLER, well known and highly respected resident of this city, passed away at
the family residence Saturday afternoon, after an extended illness, at the advanced
age of 75 years, 9 months and 16 days. The deceased was born in Germany, where she
was united in marriage with Mr. SCHELLER, coming to this country fifty years ago,
settling in Mt. Olive. They had the great privilege and pleasure of celebrating their golden
wedding anniversary about nine years ago. She is survived by her aged husband and nine
daughters, namely: Mrs. Elizabeth JOHNSON of Townsend, Vermont; Mrs. Elsie
FREY of Gillespie; Mrs. Marie RINK of New Fane, Vermont; Mrs. Martha
CASE of Long Beach, Calif.; Mrs. Loretta SCHOEN of Litchfield;
Mrs. Pauline SIES of Eagerville; Mrs. Anna DEIBERT and Mrs. Edna BASSETT of Mt.Olive, and Mrs. Ida MARTENS of St. Louis. There are also
27 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday
afternoon by Rev. T.A. MARTIN at 1:30 o'clock at the family residence and at
2 o'clock at the M.E. Church, of which congregation she was a devoted member. Mrs. Wm.
DOEHLER and Mrs. G.F. THING sang "Mother's Love," with Anton
SCHELLER as accompanist, and Mrs. Martha CASE, sent a poem,
"Going to Heaven." The remains were laid to rest in the Miners Union Cemetery.

Obituary: Mrs. Friederika SCHLICHT, nee OPPERMAN, widow
of the late August SCHLICHT, deceased, was born near Bettmar,
Germany, August 4th, 1841, departed this life at her home in Nilwood, Ill.
about 5:40 p.m. the 28th day of March 1921 at the age of 79 years, 5 months
and 24 days. She was married to August SCHLICHT October 13, 1861,
and to this union were born thirteen children, six of this number are still
living, namely: Mrs. Anna ROSSMAN and Mrs. William HEINEMAN
residing in St. Louis, Mo.; Henry, Otto and Ferdinand of Nilwood and Adolph
of Girard, Ill. and one sister, Mrs. Ben DUWE of Superior, Neb.
She also leaves to mourn their loss, nineteen grandchildren, twelve great
grandchildren and a number of other relatives and friends. She came to
this country when about 13 years of age and settled, with her parents on
Spanish Needle Prairie near Chesterfield, Ill. She later went to St. Louis,
Mo. where she was married, living there until after the Civil War when
she came to Nilwood about the year 1865 and made that place her home since
that time. She was a member of the Evangelical church until 1908 when she
united with the Baptist church of Nilwood. She was a kind and loving mother
and a good neighbor and had the respect of all who knew her. Funeral services
were held at Nilwood Baptist church and interment was made in Carlinville
city cemetery, March 31, 1921. Rev. J. G. LITTLE officiated.

Obituary: Henry SCHLOMANN met with an accident yesterday
morning that caused his death. He went to awaken SCHIEBE early in
the morning, but fell on the stair steps, and became unconscious. Two doctors
were called and afer some time he regained consciousness and was able to
go home, but must have sustained internal injuries, as he died about 10
o'clock. He was a life-long resident here and was well known. The funeral
services will be conducted Sunday afternoon.

Obituary: Herman SCHMIDT Died Wednesday. Herman SCHMIDT, for many
years a resident of Staunton, died on Wednesday (date would
probably be August 22, 1934) in Jacksonville, having attained an
age of 85 years 11 months and 18 days. Mr. SCHMIDT was born in
Germany, and after coming to this country he resided for a time
in Pennsylvania. He is survived by one son, Henry SCHMIDT of this
city and seven daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth SUNDMEYER, Mrs. Gottlieb
LEONARD and Mrs. Elmer KARCH (? Smeared) of Staunton; Mrs Fred
PROBST, Mrs. Oscar HAUSTEIN and Miss Hattie SCHMIDT
of Chicago and Mrs. Carl LICHTNETHAIER of Mt. Olive; also 27 grandchildren
and 13 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the
Huntman Funeral Home, Rev E. H. LUCAS officiating. Appropriate hymns were
rendered by Mrs. Myrtle BALDWIN, Mrs. Hugh E. MENK, and Mr. and
Mrs. E. G. JONES. Six grandsons served as pall bearers. Interment was in the Staunton City cemetery.

Obituary: Staunton, Ill., News - Funeral services for Herman SCHMIDT, who was nearing his 86th birthday, died Wed. in Jacksonville, services were held Sat afternoon at
the Huntman Funeral Home. Rev. W.H. LUCAS, pastor of the Baptist Church
officiated. He was a native of Germany, coming to Pennsylvania and later to Staunton,
Ill. His wife preceded him in death 12 years ago. He is survived by one son, Henry

Obituary: Katherine SCHLAGENHAUFF SCHNAARE Another old and
respected resident of this city has passed away in the death of Mrs. Katherine
SCHNAARE at 10:15 p.m. Sunday, January 26, at the home of her
son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Otto MILLER, after being in ill
health since December 12, which was due mostly to old age. The last day she
was able to be around was when she attended the funeral of an old friend, Mrs.
Catherina FRITZ, at the Lutheran church, but was unable to remain
till the services were over and was taken home in a buggy, and since that
time has never left her bed. From the first, small hopes were entertained
for her recovery, and no one realized this more than did the patient sufferer,
consequently she wished to have the children at her bedside all the time
and was worried when anyone was absent. The children, especially the daughters,
administered faithfully to their mother and remained at her side constantly
the many weeks she was sick, giving her the best of care. When she grew
worse Sunday all the children had come she passed away so quietly that
at first they all thought she was sleeping. The funeral was held yesterday
afternoon at 2 o'clock from the residence to the Zion's Lutheran church
and the remains laid to rest in City Cemetery, Rev. Ph. WILHELM
conducting the services. The funeral was one of the largest ever held in
this city and the floral tributes were numerous and beautiful. Katherine
SCHLAGENHAUFF, was born in Reilingshausen, Marbach, Urtenburg,
Germany, January 20, 1832 and emigrated to this (city) with her parents at the
age of 3 years. The family first settled in Perry County, Missouri, where they
remained a short time and then moved to St. Louis. There Katherine attended
the Parochial School of Trinity Lutheran Church and was confirmed by the
ven. Dr. WALTHER, a well known minister throughout the Lutheran
church. In the year 1850, February 10, the same minister united Miss
SCHLAGENHAUFF in marriage to Aug. L. SCHNAARE, and
has since, been a great friend to the family, occasionally visiting them in this city.
In 1852, Mr. and Mrs. SCHNAARE moved to Columbia, Monroe County,
Illinois, and in 1855 came to this city, being among the earliest settlers and their old
homestead standing near where the Circle Colombo Hall is now. Mr. and Mrs.
SCHNAARE were always respected people and acquired a large amount
of property in and around this city. In the year 1896, December 8, Mr.
SCHNAARE died at the age of 80 years and Mrs. SCHNAARE
remained at her old home opposite the City Park until May 1904, when she went
with her daughter, Mrs. Otto MILLER. She has always been a faithful
member of the Lutheran Church and always honored and respected by the many
friends she had there. She was a good mother to her children and though their
sorrow is a great one, they know she has earned a well deserved rest. Six children
survive her death, six being dead. The living ones are: August, Solomon,
of this city, Henry G. of St. Louis, Mrs. Katherine HOFFSTETTER, of
here, and Mrs. Hy. RIEFENBURG of Carlinville and Mrs. Anna FRITZ
and a stepson, Chas. SCHNAARE. She also had 34 grandchildren, and
5 great-grand children.

Obituary: Salamon D. SCHNAARE. The funeral services of Salamon
D SCHNAARE were held from his home near this city at one o'clock
last Sunday afternoon, and from there to the Lutheran church in Staunton
at 2:30. Rev. J.G.F.KLEINHANS of this city spoke the words of consolation
to the bereaved ones. The Pall bearers were: Adam FISCHER, Herman
FRITZ, Louis LICH, Henry LICH, George AHRENS,
Sr., and Ed BOETTCHER. Salamon D. SCHNAARE was born in
Staunton Feb. 14, 1859. On May 22, 1867 he was married to Miss Louisa HAHN,
a daughter of a former Lutheran Minister in this city, the marriage taking
place in Lincoln, Kansas. He was confirmed in the Zion Lutheran church
in 1874, and remained a member of that church through all his life. Mr. SCHNAARE
after attending the Lutheran school in this city began as a blacksmith at
No.6 mine. Later he went with Mr. Henry VOGE to Wamego, Kansas,
as engineer in Mr. VOGE's mill at that place. After Mr.VOGE's
mill burned he accepted a position in New Douglas as engineer in the flour
mills in that city. He labored in that place until ten years ago, when
he moved to his mother's place on the Bunker Hill road where he lived until
his death. He has suffered for sometime from cancer of the glands and death
came as a relief from his sufferings although it leaves a place empty in
the home that can never be filled. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife
and nine children, two brothers August of near here, Henry of St.Louis,
four sisters, Mesdames Kate HOFFSTETTER, Anna FRITZ,
Otto MILLER, of this city and Mrs. Henry RIEFENBERG of
Carlinville. Interment was in the city cemetery. The family has the sympathy
of all in their sad plight.

Obituary: The Rev. Father Adolph F. SCHNEIDER is dead at
his home in Edgewood, Ill., and the funeral will be held from St. Joseph's
church in this city, Friday morning, January 30, at 10 o'clock. Father
SCHNEIDER was the pastor of St. Joseph's church for a few months
following the late Father ADER, and though he was here but a short
time endeared himself in the hearts of his parishioners. So far as is known
he has no relatives in this country. His remains will be brought to this
city and will lie in state in the church.

Obituary: Herman SCHNEIDER, Sr. was found dead at his home
north of his city Thursday by his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Herman SCHNEIDER,
Jr. The cause of death was apoplexy. Services were held at the Evangelical
Church in Farina with interment in Farina Cemetery. Herman Julius
Frederick SCHNEIDER was born Sept. 9, 1855 in West Prussia, Germany
and died Nov. 14, 1929. At the age of 7 years, the family emigrated to
America settling in Staunton in Macoupin Co., Ill.
In 1876 the family moved to Fayette Co., Ill. settling on a farm near Farina.
Two years after settling here, he married Miss Lena KNAUER, and
they began housekeeping on the farm where Mr. SCHNEIDER remained
until his death. His wife died March 19, 1915. 10 children were born: Emma,
Lena, Herman, Tillie, William, Ida, Bertha, Adolph, Minnie and Frieda,
but 6 have died.
He was instrumental in the forming of the telephone company of which he
was a member. Surviving are 3 daughters: Mrs. Henry JASPER, Mrs. August
JASPER, Mrs. Walter MILLER; 1 son, Herman SCHNEIDER
Jr.; 1 brother, William SCHNEIDER, and 6 great-grandchildren.

Obituary: Old and Respected Girard Resident Called by Death. Mrs.
A. D. SCHOEN, one of Girard's aged and highly respected citizens died
Friday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. T. J. GARDNER, following
an illness of several months duration of cancer of the liver, aged 75 years.
Mrs. SCHOEN was born in Germany and came to America with her parents
when sixteen years of age and settled in New Orleans, La. The family resided
in the Crescent city for several years when they moved to St. Louis, where
she was married to Mr. A. D. SCHOEN and the couple later moved to
Staunton, where they made their home for many years. From this place they
removed to Girard, remaining there for five years, thence to Farmersville
and later to Divernon and at this later place Mr. SCHOEN passed
away a few years ago. Since his demise Mrs. SCHOEN had made her
home among her children and last fall came to Girard, where she resided
until her death. Four children survive as follows: Mrs. Louise BERNARD
of Chicago, Mrs. Helen SCHOENING of Bible Grove, Clay county, Gustave
SCHOEN and Mrs. T. J. GARDNER of Girard. Besides the husband,
six sons and two daughters have preceded her to the grave. Funeral services
will take place Sunday, March 5, at 2:30 p.m. from the German Lutheran
church in Girard. Prof. STRECKFUL of Concordia college, Springfield,
officiating. The burial will take place in the Girard cemetery.

Obituary: Mrs. Tusnelda SCHROEDER Burial Here Friday for California Lady,
Formerly of Girard. Friends here have received word of the death
of Mrs. Tusnelda SCHROEDER, 73 of Oakland, California. She died
November 6 in a Los Angeles Hospital. Tussie, as she was known to her Girard
friends, was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. W. RING. She was reared
in Girard and was a graduate of the Girard high school. Later the family
move to California. For many years she had successfully conducted gift
shops in Hyannis Mass and in California. In her eagerness obtain articles
of unusual interest for her customers she made various trips to European
countries and to the interiors of Japan and China. Mr. and Mrs. Percy ENSLOW
of Walnut Hill, California will accompany the body to Illinois, arriving
in St. Louis this (Thursday) afternoon, and going first to the Carroll
funeral home in Litchfield. Services to be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the
C.M. Shane Funeral home in Girard with Rev. E. A. McFARLAND officiating.
Burial will be in Girard Cemetery. Surviving are four sisters, Mrs.
Amanda BRENDEL, Mrs. Flora THOMPSON, Mrs. Julia STEINKAMP
and Mrs. Rena ENSLOW, all of California.

Obituary: Mrs. Joseph SCHWAB, who lived near Nilwood, died
at her home just at noon, Thursday, after being seriously ill for five
weeks. She was aged 29 years. She is survived by her husband and two children

THOMAS of Brushy Mound, and brothers Frank TRUNK of Brushy
Mound. Mrs. SCHWAB has been in ill health for several years. She
was faithful member of the German Catholic church and attended regularly
when able. She was a very loveable mother and wife and will be mourned
by a host of sorrowing relatives and friends. The funeral will be held
at the St. Joseph's church in this city between 9 and 10 o'clock Saturday morning.

Marjory BAKER, and Reah GRANDAHL. Also preceded by two brothers
Ben DUNHAM and Marlin DUNHAM. She was born in Plainview, IL to Maynard
and Lucy (MOWEN) DUNHAM. She married Leland SCROGGINS
on May 5, 1945 in Bunker Hill, IL. He died May 28, 2006. She grew up in Gillespie,
IL and graduated from Gillespie High School. After her marriage she and her husband lived
in Bunker Hill, IL. and Sullivan, MO. They moved to Greenville in 1952 and to Mulberry Grove
in 1957. She had worked as a regional manager for Tupperware and had last worked selling
real estate for Holzinger Realty in Greenvile. She was a member of The Mulberry Grove United
Methodist Church, The Order of The Eastern Star, Mulberry Grove Homemakers, Gold Star Mothers,
and The Mulberry Grove Lioness Club. Memorial contributions are suggested to The Mulberry Grove
United Methodist Church or Bond County Hospice.
