Looking for members of Emory A. GRIDER and Melinda A. FANNING family. Emory was born 26 Dec 1818 in Illinois son of Martin
S. GRIDER and Ava DUNCAN. Emory married first Mary BOYES 19 Oct 1837 in Morgan Co. Their children include Julia c 1839,
Sarah c 1841, Martin c 1844, Levi c 1846, Rachel c 1847, James c 1849, Eliza c 1852, Elijah, c 1853 and John c 1854. Mary died
14 Nov 1855. Emory married Melinda A. FANNING 1 Dec 1856. Their children are Mary c 1859, Elizabeth c 1862 George c 1866
Martha (Susan) c 1868, Minerva c 1872 and Maramah Catherine 9 May 1873. Emory and Mary were living in Scottville Macoupin
Co by 1880. I should like to follow Melinda's children if possible. All I have is that Maramah married Joseph William HUGHES in

I am searching for the parents of Sarah EDWARDS. Sarah was born about 1818, married William Rutherford PALMER about 1838
and is shown in 1860 census as living in Nilwood, Macoupin Co., IL. They had eleven children: John, Sarah, George, Rachael,

In an article in Staunton Star-Times, 23 Feb 1912, a Mrs. J.A. Wilder noted the following: "My great grandparents lived on the
hill that Otto Funderburk lives on at present, on the road going from Staunton to Bunker Hill near Cahokia bridge. Their daughter
was Mary "Polly" PIPER who married Stephen WILCOX." I'm trying to locate more information about Mary Piper's family. Can you

David Allen SMITH, b. ca. 1809, Richmond, VA; d. 1865, Jacksonville, IL; m. 1st - unk., 2nd - Eliza ALLAN; as infant, his family
moved to Pulaski TN; then to Courtland, AL. At his father's death, he inherited several plantations
& 21 slaves. In 1837, he
moved his family to Carlinville where he freed & provided for his slaves, giving bond that they might not become a public burden.
Some elected to stay with him. After 2 years, he moved to Jacksonville, practicing law with Col. John J. Hardin. He had a family
of 11, most of whom attended colleges in Jacksonville. He was a patron of both Illinois College
& Jacksonville Female Academy.
He served as a Trustee for Illinois College (1842-his death in 1865). He was a patron of both colleges. The question here is:
Where to find copies of the papers/bonds filed to free the slaves? Nothing found in Probate or land indexes; staff at courthouse

I have been researching the name POSEY and according to the information given by a gr uncle in the 1900 census, my gr
grandfather was born in IL. Today I found something in Dallas Co. TX that made me believe his mother may have been a UHL,
so I went to the library and got the 1850 IL census and found Andrew J. UHL listed in your county. That is very interesting
because my gr grandfather was Andrew J. POSEY. He m. between 1860-62 Eliza J. Lamb in TX. They had two children by 1865.
If you know of anyone in your society who has researched the Uhl name will you please let me know? Or the POSEY name - it
could be Zacharia or Zackary. I saw Jubilee POSEY on census.

I know that my grandfather was b. in Poland which was under German rule at the time. His birth date is approx. 1867. I was told
that my father was b. in Mt. Olive on 1 Dec 1906. I was not able to find any record of birth while doing research in Salt Lake
City. Nor was I able to find a record of marriage for my grandparents. I was able to find a listing of the family in the Taylorville
1920 census under the last name of Zilske. The correct name is Zalewski. My father's first name is Peter, my grandfather's was
Charles or Czaly and my grandmother's Rose. I do not have her maiden name.

My father, Harold Tefft was born in Gillespie in 1919. His mother was Sussie Croxton whose mother remarried a Mr. Cowell in
Macoupin county. Back further than that I have no idea. I have very little information to work with. My grandfather, Ernest Tefft,
a coal mine hoisting engineer, lived in Gillespie, Staunton and anywhere else that there was a coal mine being sunk. I am

Nancy MCWAIN on Sept. 19, 1841 in Carlinville, IL. All of his children stayed in Carlinville and raised families. He drove a
stagecoach prior to the railroad coming to Macoupin County. He served in both the Mexican War and the Civil War. Any

The 1910 census for Palmer, Christian County, Illinois, lists Charles CRONICKER (CRONIGER), age 7, as a nephew living with
Isaac Nelson ODLE and Virginia (BATES) ODLE. Charlie filed a birth certificate for himself in 1952 listing Nelson and Jenny Odle
as his parents, though he knew they were not his natural parents. On the birth certificate he gave his birth year as 1901.
However, the 1910 and 1920 census data both calculate his birth as being in 1903. The CRONIGERs are believed to have lived in
Macoupin County, but I have found no record of who they were. Please help me find the Macoupin Co. CRONIGERs who were
Grandpa Charlie's natural parents.

Searching for more information on the family of Preston SIMS, who moved to Macoupin Co. around 1849. P. F. SIMS (as he was
also known) is listed on the 1850 census with wife Mary J. and sons John L.SIMS (b. 1847) and David A. SIMS (b. 1849). Other
children, perhaps born later in IL, include Julia, Jo. P., and D. E. Sims. I know Preston
& family moved to Kansas in late 1870's,
but can't find them between 1850-1870.

Henderson A. LILBURN was born in Washington Co. Tenn. mar. Elizabeth Hunt on Mar. 16, 1849 in Wash. Co. Tenn. They moved
to Pana abt.1850 or 60. Elizabeth died abt. 1895 in Pana, Macoupin County Ill. Henderson mar. Amanda Nail abt 1896 in Pana
Macoupin County Ill. Both Henderson and Amanda died on Sept. 13, 1910. What happened on that date. Some of their children I

Looking for any info on Riley DRENNAN and his wife Sarah CAMP DRENNAN. Lived in Macoupin Co. before 1860. They were the
first people to bury two children here. Riley had a brother named TOM DRENNAN, who had 10 sons. Riley DRENNAN'S father
moved here from Georgia about 1816. Riley and Sarah moved to CA. in 1860. This is my GGrandfather. Any info would be
