Robert was married to Mary Denton in Madison County, Ill in 1823; They moved their family to Dallas
County, TX ca 1845; Daughter Martha Ray married James Kinslow and had one daughter Julie Ann, my
gggrandmother. Robert Ray was born ca 1805, probably in Guilford County, NC; Another daughter
Elizabeth Ray married Abraham Hart, son of Jacob Hart also born about the same time in Guilford

I'm descended from Daniel McPeak who was born in 1835 in Carroll county Tennessee, son of Daniel
McPeak (Sr.) -- mother unknown. The family left TN between 1835 and 1840 to Desoto County,
Mississippi. Before I made the connection to either Daniel, I had suspicions that his daughter (Emma Modella McPeak -- my 2nd great grandmother) might be descended from the Macoupin Mcpeaks for a
couple of reasons. One, I found several unusual namesakes in that line, and two -- that line appears to
have Indian connections. I have been told that "Mary's father" was a full-blood Cherokee and that he
and his family were on the Trail of Tears, but that they left the trail when they crossed the Mississippi.
I had all but forgotten the Macoupin McPeaks until reading your note that indicates they were in TN
about the same time as Daniel (Sr.) and left Mississippi about the same time (albeit in a different
direction). Does any of this ring bells? Do you know if the Macoupin McPeaks have Cherokee
connections? .
