I am researching my grandmother's first husband, last name of Love. I do know his given name. I don't know where he was from, where he & my grandmother lived during their marriage. My grandmother's name was Mary "Dolly" Bond, daughter of George Rufus & Leathea Bond. My grandmother had a son with Love whose name was Archibald Love. He went by Archie. I think he was born sometime around 1902, but I do not know when he died. He had an accident when he was young which resulted in the loss of one of his eyes (I remember seeing various sizes of glass eyes that my grandmother kept.) I think he died from TB, but I don't know if he lived to adulthood. I know that he was deceased at the time that I was born in 1955. My grandmother and grandfather, Anderson Sawyer, resided in Staunton. If anyone has any information that they could share, I would appreciate it.

MCPEAK posted by Matthew Morris on Wednesday, August 23, 2000
I'm descended from Daniel McPeak who was born in 1835 in Carroll county Tennessee, son of Daniel McPeak (Sr.) -- mother unknown. The family left TN between 1835 and 1840 to Desoto County, Mississippi. Before I made the connection to either Daniel, I had suspicions that his daughter (Emma Modella McPeak -- my 2nd great grandmother) might be descended from the Macoupin Mcpeaks for a couple of reasons. One, I found several unusual namesakes in that line, and two -- that line appears to have Indian connections. I have been told that "Mary's father" was a full-blood Cherokee and that he and his family were on the Trail of Tears, but that they left the trail when they crossed the Mississippi. I had all but forgotten the Macoupin McPeaks until reading your note that indicates they were in TN about the same time as Daniel (Sr.) and left Mississippi about the same time (albeit in a different direction). Does any of this ring bells? Do you know if the Macoupin McPeaks have Cherokee connections? .
